Wonderful as it was to travel and perform in Europe and visit Abelard and Heloise's haunts during my sabbatical in the fall of 2007, the best part of it was returning home. Not just my geographical home in Ballard, but the musical and spiritual home I enjoy with the amazing group of women who make up the Choir -- as singers, board members and volunteers -- and with you, our loyal audience, in ever-expanding numbers. Your presence at our performances convinces me that you share our dedication to medieval music, and our joy in making music together.
I sincerely thank you for being such an integral part of this triangle of music, performer and audience. I hope you will renew your commitment to the choir by subscribing to our exciting 2008-2009 season. Your subscription is more important to us than ever before. We love to see you at our concerts. Your support helps underwrite all the musical research and other behind-the-scenes work essential to our continued innovative programming.
In appreciation of your support we have expanded our subscriber benefits. You and your concert companions will of course continue to enjoy the best seats at each venue (and save money as well). You will also be invited to get to know soloists, director, choir and board members at post-concert receptions.
This Fall we are adding a special season preview party for subscribers and donors. And, as many of you have requested, I will be offering informal talks about the programs and the context of the music in the weeks before each concert.
In October you will receive a newsletter with more details about these events and our upcoming season.
I look forward to seeing you soon!
